A poker freeroll is a great opportunity for players to win free cash from a poker room. While they are increasing in popularity and many online casino providers host several freeroll tournaments each day, the dynamics of the game are very different from traditional poker and can trip up even the most experienced player. If you’re focused and strategic, you can walk away with a big prize but if you’re too hasty, then your experience will just have been a waste of time.
Be Patient. Freeroll games can have thousands of players, which means you’re going to be playing for quite some time if you want to win any money. If you want to play in a freeroll, be ready to play for at least a couple of hours.
Be Aggressive.
Generally, in freeroll tournaments, you will be starting with ten players at your table. This allows you to keep your strategy fairly tight but it also means you’re going to have to play some aggressive poker. As soon as you have a good hand, play it. Holding on to your best hands might result in you losing the opportune chance to play them. Being aggressive will help your multiply your stack.
Be Selective. While experienced casino and poker players have been taught otherwise, in a freeroll, it’s important to remember that playing every hand does not inevitably lead to success. You must be disciplined in order to resist playing every hand but it’s well worth it. Most other players have not been trained to be selective so if you can take your time, you will likely see the rest of your table turning over bad hands. If you can somehow keep only good cards in your starting hand, you’ll automatically be in the lead.
Be Unpredictable.
Although it is recommended to play a tight game in freerolls, it is very important to make sure that you don’t become too predictable. Change it up every so often. This will make you successful in both traditional poker and freeroll tournaments.
Avoid Bluffing. A popular strategy in ensuring a big win, bluffing is generally encouraged when playing poker. In online poker freerolls, however, bluffing might not be the best idea.
Even when playing tradition poker online, you can never be too sure about the other players at the table, because you can’t actually see them.
